Well Woman Exams
Texas Primary Care Associates
What happens during a well-woman exam?
First, Texas Primary Care Associates performs a physical exam and reviews your medical history. We check your breasts for abnormal growth and ask questions about your reproductive health.
Texas Primary Care Associates provides personalized care, tailoring your well-woman visit to your unique needs. Depending on your age and medical history, he may perform recommended screening tests and counseling services, such as:
- Pap smears (cervical cancer screening)
- Sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing
- Ultrasound imaging tests
- Birth control counseling
- Preconception counseling
- Mamogram Screening
If you’re under age 21, your visit may simply include a physical exam and discussion of your menstrual cycles. Women usually start getting Pap smears and pelvic exams at age 21.
During a Pap smear and pelvic exam, Texas Primary Care Associates inserts a speculum into your vagina and gently swabs your cervix to collect a sample of cells. We sends this sample to a lab that checks the cells for abnormal changes that may indicate pre-cancerous growths on your cervix.
