Understanding your health insurance costs
Insurance terms can be confusing. Knowing a few key words makes it easier to understand what you will pay for a visit at Texas Primary Care Associates.
Common insurance terms
- Copay: a fixed amount you pay for a visit, such as a sick visit
- Deductible: the amount you pay each year before your plan starts sharing costs
- Coinsurance: your share of the cost as a percentage, such as 20%
- In-network: providers who have a contract with your plan, which usually costs you less
- Prior authorization: approval your plan may require before some medicines or tests

Blue Cross Blue Shield and UnitedHealthcare
Texas Primary Care Associates is a primary care home for many BCBS and UHC members in Longview. Use your plan for annual physicals, med checks and refills, chronic care, medical weight loss and same-day sick visits. Some plans ask you to choose a primary care provider; the front desk can help with that.
Medicare and Medicare Advantage
New Medicare patients are welcome. Original Medicare covers the Welcome to Medicare visit and the Annual Wellness Visit. Medicare Advantage plans often use networks, so call with your plan card to confirm. Learn more about Medicare care at our clinic.
Ambetter and marketplace plans
Ambetter plans are bought through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Marketplace plans cover recommended preventive services with no copay in network, and sick visits use your plan’s copay or deductible. Call to confirm your specific Ambetter plan is accepted.
