When should my child get a sports physical?
Schedule it at least a few weeks before the season starts so there is time to follow up if anything needs attention. Texas schools require a pre-participation physical before certain years of UIL athletics, so check what your school asks for.
Bring the completed medical history section of the form, signed by a parent.
What happens at a sports physical?
We review your health and family history, check vital signs and vision, and examine the heart, lungs, joints and posture. The visit usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
If everything looks good, your provider signs the form so you can play. If not, we explain next steps.
